Dr. Eric Thorson

Artistic Director/Conductor

Conductor of the Knoxville Choral Society since 1995 and artistic director since 1996, Dr. Thorson is professor of music and director of choral activities at Carson-Newman University, where he conducts A Cappella Choir, Men’s Chorus, and Oratorio Chorus. In 2003, Thorson was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award, the highest award given to faculty at Carson-Newman.

Andrew Duncan

Interim Assistant Director

Andrew Duncan is the Interim Director of Worship and the Director of Choral Ministries at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. His responsibilities include leading congregational worship, directing the worship band and adult choir, assisting with the youth choir program; writing and arranging for the worship band and orchestra; and worship planning with the music staff, pastors, and volunteers. He is an active arranger and composer and has orchestrated many anthems and carols for orchestra, choir, and handbells.

Joseph North

Accompanist

Joseph North attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he received his B.A. in Piano Performance in 2005 under the training of Dr. David Brunell. Joseph completed a M.A. in Studio Jazz Piano from the University of Tennessee in May 2017, under the training of Mr. Donald Brown.

Leslie Hill

Assistant Accompanist

Leslie is the Director of Music Ministries at Fountain City United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She conducts vocal and and handbell choirs for youth and adults as well as planning worship with the pastoral staff. Formerly a high school music educator, Leslie still enjoys accompanying for local school choirs as much as possible.
